Since the early 1800s, Liska has been a key center of Jewish life, known for its thriving cultural and religious community. Annually, thousands of pilgrims visit Liska, honoring Tzvi Hirsh Liska’s memory. Liska is home to over 500 Jewish heritage sites, from cemeteries to synagogues reflecting a long history. In the 1800s, about 3,000 Jews lived in Liska, forming a rich and vibrant community. The influence of Liska’s heritage extends to nearby towns like Kerestir, shaping Jewish life across Hungary. About 5,000 pilgrims and tourists visit Liska each year, drawn by its historical and spiritual atmosphere.
